I believe your requirement can be achieved with the help of Modals. You can achieve the click animation effect on the Image 1 using the Animate It! plugin though.

I tried it but it has it issues. Positioning the modal window is a major issue. Different browsers, the position changes and it's difficult to get the correct positioning.

It is true that sometimes the code of plugin interferes with theme script, css etc.

My suggestion would be, to use some other modal plugin. There are actually plenty of options available for Modals in WordPress:
